Riders start in the Ranch arena to warm up and get to know their horse. Let the experienced and professional wranglers take you on an unforgettable journey through private pasture land in UpCountry Maui.


The ranch is located on the edge of the rainforest 2,000 feet above the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean. With plenty of wide open ranges for horseback riding and panoramic views, come participate in the legacy created by seven generations of Maui?s preeminent ranching family. Owned and operated by Peter Baldwin and his family, Piiholo Ranch shares the family?s skill in cattle ranching and caring for the land and Hawaiian history for more than one hundred years.

While enjoying one of our Maui horseback riding adventures you will be part of this working cattle ranch, bearing witness to the many native plants and indigenous Hawaiian trees that line the property, all the while catching sight of colorful, endemic forest birds. You can also observe the majestic state bird, the endangered Hawaiian Nene goose, at the preserve and nursery established on the Ranch.

While there are many activities on Maui, only Maui Horseback Riding at the ranch offers the traditional Hawaiian paniolo cowboy adventure. So, saddle up and get ready for an experience of a lifetime.

Your wrangler will greet you at the Pavilion with coffee and tell you about the horse you will be riding. Your horseback ride begins in the arena so you are comfortable before you head out to the open pastures, forests and breathtaking panoramic views of Maui. You might be lucky and get a surprise visit from the Nene (Hawaiian Goose) or see some of the ranch?s cattle grazing in the pasture.

Two Hour Private Horseback Ride lets you enjoy the pristine ranch with a slightly shorter ride. Included snacks and water. 9:30am, 10am, and 2pm daily. Minimum two riders. +$70 for solo riders.

Three Hour Private Horseback Ride with Lunch at the Private Cabins +$120
Includes an exclusive invitation to the secluded private Baldwin Cabins for lunch highlighted with a champagne greeting, our famous turkey club focaccia bread sandwiches, spinach and bacon green salad with a vinaigrette dressing and finished with cookies for dessert.  Drinks include water, green tea and a variety of Hawaiian style sodas. Riders and wranglers all eat together on the cabins 20 foot dining table, set with red and white checkered table cloths, Ranch blue metal plates and silverware. Guests of this 3 Hour Lunch Ride are special and will be swept away by the views and atmosphere of the ranch. 9:30am and 10am only.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to Cancel for ANY reason please give us the courtesy of 48 hrs so we have some time to re book your horses. "No-shows" will be charged the full rate or a 15% re-scheduling fee per person.


Last Minute Bookings

Please be aware that these bookings are subject to confirmation. If this is a same-day or next-day booking, there is a reasonable chance this will not be confirmed. For bookings that are confirmed, there will be no cancellations or refunds.
