Ride the volcano!


The Haleakala sunrise is absolutely on the "must do" list of any Maui visit. Combine this spectacle with a thrilling ride all the way down to Paia town!


This tour will make its way up the switchbacks as the sun starts to show its self. We will get to the staging area at 6500ft which has a north east exposure maybe 30 minutes before the sun rises. After the sunrise we will conduct our bicycle safety brief, and be on our way, stopping for pictures and making our way to the Kula Market Place, where our guests will have a 30 min break to get some coffee or snacks and use the restroom. We will continue down to Paia on bikes and offer a 1 hour break for Breakfast or shopping all (no host), before returning back to Hotels or condos.
  • Length of ride is approximately 26 miles.
  • Total time of adventure from pickup until return is approximately 7 hours.
  • Time of actual bicycle ride is approximately 1.75 hours depending on quality of riders, traffic, weather and number of photo rest stops.
  • Cruiser Phil's bicycles are custom built and maintained by our in-house mechanic.
  • All bicycles are single speed cruisers, with 2-inch wide tires, large comfortable seats, and special drum brakes, which are hand activated.
  • We provide all gear needed such as full-face helmets, foul weather suits (2 pieces), gloves, and insulated winter jackets (an exclusive Cruiser Phil feature).
  • Round trip transportation is provided in Ford XLT air-conditioned vans.
  • Tours provide hot beverages and pastries or snacks at the base yard. (Not to be referred as continental breakfast)
  • There will be a 1 hour no-host meal stop at the end of the ride in the town of Paia or Makawao

Please be aware that these bookings are subject to confirmation. If this is a same-day or next-day booking, there is a reasonable chance this will not be confirmed. For bookings that are confirmed, there will be no cancellations or refunds.


Restrictions

Riders should be at least 13 years old and under 65 years of age.
Riders should be at least 5 feet tall.
Maximum weight for bike rider is 250 lbs.
No pregnant women. This ride is NOT for beginners; please be an experienced cyclist, having ridden a bicycle in at least the past 12 months. Participants must wear closed toed shoes. No pregnant women.  No one with medical conditions that would adversely affect them in this activity should participate. Riders must sign an acknowledgment of risk & safety form as well as a medical/physical clearance form.
